What We Should Expect of the Future of 5G
The 5G technology become closer to us each day more. While debunking future prospects from other types of high-speed internet providers, this increasingly important species of internet is also getting more popular and interesting since 2019 for many locations in the globe.
5g services can cover a wide number of cell phones, and currently the mobile and other wireless devices industries are developing new manufacturing models to fit this trend. The reason is simple: improved coverage, larger bandwidths and higher speeds are included are features of the 5G package.
This is why, since March 2019, the technological industry started to create 5G friendly devices. One of the most popular of them was the first all-5G smartphone, released on March 6, 2020, named Samsung Galaxy S20. After that, Apple launched iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, their first line to support all the 5G bands.
Although mobile offers gradually include these new settings, higher competition and rush to keep up with what is best is a clear issue in this scenario. Many devices cannot support both the new and the 4G internet, for example. Therefore, cable and satellite internet providers such as Verizon and AT&T also had to review their market moves in order to keep up with the internet dominance. Is this going to happen successfully? No one seems to know.
One thing is apparently a certainty, though: in the futuristic smart cities, where artificial intelligent and autonomous vehicles are part of society`s daily routine, the high-speed data will have a massive value for consumers.
The faster, the better
Specialists’ predictions point that high speeds are the main factor that will sustain the connected world in the future. According to Ookla, in September 2020, the average download speed around the globe was 85.73 Mbps for fixed networks. Comparing to 2018, there was a growth of 43.9 Mbps. For Cisco, the prediction is that this speed level will probably change to 110.4 Mbps by 2023.
This means 5G is already ahead the other internet types. And, so, the best phone services deals will look up not to miss this business opportunity. But the transition to transform phone plans and carriers offers does not happen in one night and everything will depend on specific circumstances, which vary by:
- business models and strategies
- level of economic development
- technological and productive means concentration
- political choices
One of the main concerns for companies that have not planned or acted in order to adapt to 5G access is that, in the future, they will have difficulties to compete with it in household environments. 5G Home internet is already available in companies like Verizon, and the goal of the 5G in the future is to reach each day a higher number of people that is looking for a fixed broadband with fast data speeds.
